All About Me

My name is Cathy Scott and I have been a Head Start teacher for 20 years. I am a Mentor Teacher for the state of California’s "Mentor Program". I enjoy helping practicum students, ECE students and others in the early childhood field gain skills and confidence in the classroom. I love the preschool age and find the whole subject of early childhood education exciting and fascinating. I love working with children and their families.

I believe that parents are and always will be their child’s first and most important teacher, parents as primary educators is a philosophy that has endeared the Head Start program to me. As a developmental interactionist, I am a staunch advocate of developmentally appropriate practice and learning through play. As Early childhood professionals, I think we need to be activists and advocates for children to learn at their own developmental level.I get inspired every time I walk into my classroom.

I have been married for 31 years to my best friend Richard, my hobbies include rock hunting, fishing and old dump digging, in that order.
